Hi everyone, Just letting you all know that I've posted all the covers of the Stephen King proofs that I own. First are the UK proofs, then the US proofs. I have not included (yet, at least) any of the proofs of anthologies that contain King material or any of the proofs of books about King. Here's the link: www.thedarktower.com/palaver/showthread.php?t=6011John

It is an amazing collection John.
How long has it took you to collect all of these? must have been a good few years.
As i said i have only just started to collect King's work, if i can have a collection half as good as yours i will be over the moon.

The first proof I bought was that of Rose Madder, in 1996. I didn't really start, though, until the advent of the internet, around 2001 or so.
Right now I have a want list that I'm always searching for (but it's been a while since I've been able to find anything on it). I am able to get the proofs of King's newest works a couple months before the books themselves are published. Sometimes, though, I end up over-paying for these, because there's no indication on how scarce they will be. Of course, I also get some (such as the US proof of Cell) that prove to be very scarce indeed.
I forgot to add, too, that there doesn't seem to be any reference that lists all of King's proofs. The closest is Beahm's Stephen King Collectibles that came out in 2000. It misses a lot, though. To me, though, this is part of the challenge of collecting the proofs--there seems to always be one out there that I had never heard of! I try to keep the list of King's proofs on TDT.com as the first entry under a "Stephen King proofs" thread.

Hey John, I only have an ARC of On Writing but on the back it says uncorrected proof. I know there are differences between the terms ARC and proof, so which one would it be considered??

Might be something to look into in the future. Would you be able to post a link to that thread for now so that people can check it out. Maybe start a thread with the link in that can be sticky'd. Dont worry if you dont want to.

Here's the link to the list of the US and UK Stephen King proofs: www.thedarktower.com/palaver/showthread.php?t=443If you want to copy it and make it a sticky, it's okay with me, but please remember that I keep adding things to it as I find them. Probably next to be added (but not until the Fall of next year) will be the proof of Under the Dome! John

Hey John, I only have an ARC of On Writing but on the back it says uncorrected proof. I know there are differences between the terms ARC and proof, so which one would it be considered?? I personally use the terms interchangeably, but there are some purists out there who say the ARC (Advance Reading Copy) has a design on the cover (such as for the On Writing one) while the proof is rather plain. I don't think many of the publishers make the distinction any more either. You'll also see me make reference to a manuscript proof. In most cases, I use that to describe an over-sized item, but there are two US manuscript proofs of Blaze (one of which I own) that call themselves manuscript proofs while they are of the normal trade-paper back size. The proof of Secretary of Dreams is definitely over-sized, but I wouldn't call it a manuscript proof. John

Unfortunatly im not alowed to copy a post from another forum due to copyright, only the original author can do that, and i dont want to upset the owners of TDT.COM. Thanks for posting the link though its seems to be a really usefull thread.

I've finished posting the rest of my proofs on the Collections site of TheDarkTower.com. These included the anthologies and books about King.

What is a proof? One of the original manuscripts distributed for proofreading and comments?

Hi 13dragon. They're not original manuscripts, but are sent out by the various publishers sent to reviewers for comments and reviews. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
If you check out the link, you'll see what they often look like. I'd like to remind you that the ones in the link are the ones that I own--there are still others out there that I'm looking for.
